World health organisation new updates

The World Health Organisation (WHO) is continuing to keep us updated on the latest developments regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This week, they released new information that impacts people all around the world.

First, they have established a three-stage approach for countries to follow as they consider reopening their economies in a safe and effective way. These phases include: implementing containment and control measures; identifying areas of high transmission; and then taking action on those identified areas while lifting restrictions in other places. Each phase has its own unique guidelines, including monitoring social distancing protocols, wearing masks in public places, providing access to testing and healthcare services, and promoting hand hygiene.

The WHO also provided advice on how governments can plan their recovery efforts during the pandemic. This includes a focus on revitalizing small businesses and tourism activities that were impacted by lockdowns; implementing digital solutions for citizens who need to access public services; investing in technology for long-term sustainability; and using scientific data to monitor the virus’ spread and adjust plans accordingly.

Finally, the WHO highlighted the importance of mental health during this time of stress and uncertainty. It advised individuals to look after their mental wellbeing by reaching out to loved ones for support, maintaining healthy habits such as regular exercise and sleep, engaging in relaxation techniques like meditation or yoga, staying informed but not overwhelmed by news coverage, connecting with nature when possible, engaging with creative hobbies like drawing or writing, volunteering remotely if possible, speaking openly about one’s feelings with trusted people around them—and most importantly, seeking professional help if necessary.

Overall, these updates from the World Health Organisation show just how complex it is to deal with a global health crisis like COVID-19. As countries begin to open up their economies again amidst all of these guidelines and recommendations from WHO—it is essential that we all remain aware of our own roles in stopping the spread of this virus.
